2026 April Staff Trainings
Strengthening Relationships & Supporting Recovery
๐ฑ April Training Corner
Aprilโs learning focus invites us to look more closely at the relationships that shape our daily work โ with colleagues, teams, and the individuals we support. Strong workplace relationships create psychological safety, improve communication, and help us respond thoughtfully during moments of stress or disagreement. This month also highlights strength-based recovery planning through Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP), emphasizing partnership, self-determination, and practical tools that empower individuals to identify what keeps them well. Together, these trainings support a shared goal: building connection, fostering resilience, and supporting recovery through collaboration.

LEARN
Healthy workplace relationships and recovery-oriented care share a common foundation: listening for strengths rather than focusing only on problems. WRAP reminds us that individuals are experts in their own wellness, just as teams function best when all voices are respected.
APPLY
This month, try one relationship-building practice:
Ask a clarifying question before responding in a difficult conversation, or
When supporting a client, identify one existing strength or wellness tool before discussing challenges.
REFLECT
Consider:
How do my communication habits influence trust with coworkers or clients?
When do I shift into โfixing mode,โ and how can I move toward partnership instead?
โฑ Micro-Learning Moment
The 3-Step Pause for Stronger Connections
When tension rises โ with a coworker or a client โ try this quick reset:
1๏ธโฃ Pause โ Take one breath before responding.
2๏ธโฃ Name the Need โ What might this person be trying to communicate beneath the words?
3๏ธโฃ Respond with Curiosity โ Lead with a question instead of a conclusion.
Small pauses often prevent escalation and create space for collaboration โ a core principle in both effective teamwork and WRAP-based support planning.
