Support Our Clients

eleven ways to support east house clients

There are many ways to support East House and 1,300 clients and families that benefit from our services each year.
1. Annual Giving Campaign
The East House Annual Giving Campaign runs from October through March each year to raise funds for all client residential, educational and Career Development Services.  Mail your gift to the address below, attention "Annual Giving Campaign."  Or, click here for a secure Annual Giving Campaign form.
2. Honorary/Memorial Gifts
A special way to remember or honor a friend or loved one is with a gift to East House. An acknowledgement will be sent to the individual or the family of the individual that you honor. Again, mail your gift, designated "honor or memorial gift" to the address below.
3. Angel Project
Each year during the holiday season, clients with limited finances, who have children and grandchildren, identify a gift in the $10-$15 range that they would like to give the children with your support. Angel Donors are matched with a child's gift to be purchased. Mail your gift, designated "Angel Project" to the address below.  Or contact us at 256-3800, ext. 213, and gift suggestions will be provided.  Or click here for a secure form to become an Angel Donor.
4. East House Summer Enrichment Program at R.I.T.
Each summer, up to 40 clients are given the opportunity to take classes at Rochester Institute of Technology for two weeks.  This program provides clients, who have educational and work goals, an opportunity to participate in a college setting.  The experience enhances other treatment and rehabilitation services, and encourages clients to pursue education to achieve independence and self-sufficiency.  This important program is funded wholly by donations.  Consider a gift designated as a $250 scholarship to East House; the cost of one client attending the Enrichment Program.  Or, support one student for one week with a gift of $125; for one day at $25.
5. The Learning Center
The Learning Center, a component of East House Career Services, helps individuals improve their education to increase job placement and advancement.  This also promotes more effective involvement with family and community.  Services include:  basic reading and math education and GED preparation; computer skills training; vocational assessment and counseling, job readiness training, supportive employment training, job development/placement/retention assistance; referrals to schools and skills training programs and follow-along support.  The Learning Center serves 60-80 adults each year, and is funded wholly by donations.  Consider a gift of $150 to the Learning Center; the cost of educating and training one student per year.  Or, help educate a student for six months with a gift of $75; or for one month at $15.
6. Wish List
Consider donating items that encourage recreational activity and a healthy lifestyle for clients.  Consider donating adult sporting equipment such as baseballs, bats and gloves, basketballs, footballs, fishing poles, pool cues.
  • Exercise equipment in good condition is also welcome, such as a treadmill, exercise bike, or rowing machine.
  • Tickets for our clients to attend sporting events, concerts, theatre and movies are very much appreciated.
  • Digital cameras (5 mega pixel) would also benefit clients and client programs.
7. Social Clubs and Corporate Giving
A number of employers and social clubs have corporate or charitable giving programs, which make donations to organizations including matching gifts. Ask your employer if they have such a program.
8. Pooled Life Income
East House in collaboration with Rochester Area Community Foundation (RACF) offers a Pooled Life Income Fund that provides donors with both lifetime income and a tax deduction for a charitable gift of securities or cash into a pooled fund. Quarterly payments are made to you or your designated beneficiary for life. After the lifetime of the individual, your gift provides a legacy to East House.  For more information about pooled life income click here.
9. Endowment Gifts
There are a number of options available to give an endowment gift to East House, which will benefit clients for many years to come.  Some of the options include listing East House as a beneficiary in your will, insurance policy or pension plan, establishing a charitable remainder trust and making gifts of securities and other property.  Individuals should consult their financial and legal advisors to develop specific charitable giving plans.
10. Volunteer Your Time and Talent
Services provided by East House are greatly enhanced by the time and talent of volunteers.  Opportunities include helping with special events and serving on agency committees.  The Learning Center also welcomes tutors for literacy training, reading and math comprehension and basic computer skills.  Other options are available based on individual needs and interests.
11. Hire A Qualified Applicant To Meet Your Employment Needs
East House partners with local businesses to match qualified applicants to their job openings, and provides support services post placement, if needed.
