Compensation & Benefits

Regular full-time and part-time employees who are scheduled and work a minimum of 20 hours per week, receive the following annual cafeteria benefit based on their years of satisfactory East House employment:

Cafeteria benefits can be used to purchase various medical insurance plans, dental plan, optional tax deferred annuity (retirement fund); pay for your family's unreimbursed medical, dental, visual or dependent care expenses; or receive as additional income.

Paid Time Off
Various categories of vacation, sick, personal and holiday time have been consolidated into one category of Paid Time Off (PTO) resulting in encouragement for use of planned time off and a reward for wellness.  The annual accruals of PTO for regular full-time employees is as follows:

  • Employees with less than two years experience = 162 hours
  • Employees with a minimum of two years experience = 230 hours

Regular part-time employees who work a minimum of 20 hours per week will receive 50% of the full-time equivalent staff accrual of PTO.  In December and June of each year, employees have the option of cashing-out up to 17.5 hours of accrued PTO.

Worker's Compensation and Short-Term Disability Insurance
All employees receive full coverage and benefits as provided by the Worker's Compensation Law and the New York State Disability Insurance Act. In addition, East House provides supplemental benefits to a maximum of 60% of wages per week for up to 26 weeks as medically determined.

Retirement, Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance Plan
Full-time and eligible part-time employees are covered in the agency's defined contribution retirement, long-term disability, and life insurance plan.  Regular employees become fully vested in the new defined contribution retirement plan after three years of employment with at least 1,000 hours of work each year.  The long-term disability plan provides a benefit after 180 days of disability equal to 60% of basic earnings up to a maximum of $5,000/month.  The life insurance plan provides an employee benefit equal to 200% of regular annual earnings up to a maximum of $150,000.

Training & Educational Reimbursement Benefit
Regular full-time and part-time employees may be eligible to receive educational/conference assistance up to 70% of cost per course/conference including travel expenses, with a maximum of $400 and five training days per year.  Approved programs costing $20 or less will be paid in full by the agency.

Travel Expenses
Employees who are approved to use their car for work will be reimbursed for approved car travel necessary for agency business at a rate of 45 cents a mile plus actual tolls and parking fees.

Wage Differentials
Recognizing there are special times and circumstances when individual employees are needed to provide services the agency has established the following differential rates:

  • Holiday Work (New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day): 150% regular hourly rate.  (Thanksgiving Day and December 25): 200% of regular hourly rate.

  • Emergency Callback Work: 150% regular hourly rate.

  • Weekend and Overnight Awake Work: 110% regular hourly rate.

Telepager On-Call Compensation
Recognizing that the agency requires that certain program, supervisory and senior staff accept responsibility for providing on-call consultation to counseling staff and clients for emergencies with a telepager service during normal off-duty hours, employees are compensation at a rate of $12.00 per day on weekdays and $24.00 per day on Saturday, Sunday, and New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and December 25.
